Jack’s is one of Africa’s most peculiar, eclectic and well known camps. The décor of the camp feels like a pastiche of Persian, North African, Ethiopian and Kalahari influences – but it is a pastiche which works to unique and memorable effect.
Extra-mural activities can be by car, on foot, on horseback, even in a helicopter which resides in the camp. The contrast between the dry and green seasons is remarkable – the latter attracting, amongst many other animals, huge flocks of flamingos. The archeology of the area is also fascinating.
This camp is pricey to get to – and pricey to stay at. It’s not for everyone, but for those who love it, Jack’s is a treasure chest set in an horizonless wilderness.
