Within the huge Kafue Park – named after the river – sits one of Zambia’s greatest treasures: the Busanga Plains – and all our partner properties are located here. With seasonal flooding, Busanga is largely inaccessible January – May. But then as the waters recede it journeys through a magical transformation from a waterland dotted with fig tree islands to a dry plain later in the year.
During the wet times this beautiful park is a bird spotters’ dream with c. 500 recorded species. Game is varied – lucky guests might see the shy, elusive Sitatugna, for instance – and as the dry season progresses large numbers of antelope, elephant and the big cats can be seen.
