Straddling the Luangwa River, and split into South Luangwa and the far less visited North Luangwa, these parks offer stunning scenery with the broad seasonal river, watery lakes and holes, woodland, and the backdrop of rising hills. Game is abundant in both – with the drier season in particular offering rich pickings for predators.
The southern park offers a wide range of accommodation choices, styles and budgets, including some of Africa’s longest established properties. Choices are far fewer in the remote north – which makes an ideal choice for the more adventurous and especially people more inclined to walking than driving.
